School Holiday Program

January 2025

This week-long adventure is for creative kids, big thinkers, those who love the spotlight, and aspirational young performers.

Unlike some of the big dance school and university offerings, we're capping our program to a small group of committed creative legends to ensure every participant receives the attention they deserve. Our professional mentors will work in small groups and individually to ensure everyone's strengths are celebrated, needs are met, and areas for growth are attentively nurtured.

And...after the workshops, we'll be producing two performances of an original musical. That's right, your Bright Stars will be involved in a WORLD PREMIERE of a BRAND NEW MUSICAL! They'll contribute to the creative development of the work, see how a professional production moves from script to stage, and star alongside some of Perth's hottest emerging talent in ticketed performances open to the general public.

What a memorable treat!

The fun we'll be having

SINGING

Through ensemble singing and small group lessons, our Bright Stars will refine their vocal technique and understand how to sing as a team to create brilliant music.

Singers will be learning from a double bachelor graduate and industry professional from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) with Classical and Music Theatre training.

DANCING

Dancing is one of the purest forms of self-expression and it just makes the body feel good!

Whether our Bright Stars are dancing pros or new to the art form, we'll cater for everybody depending on their strengths and existing knowledge.

We'll be dancing every day, learning group numbers and some smaller specialised moments for our stronger dancers.

ACTING

Putting ourselves in another person's shoes can be a powerful learning experience for adults and kids. In a world where empathy and confidence are so crucial, we believe acting can contribute to a better future.

Bright Stars will learn how to think like another person through character studies and creative play, exploring facial expressions, gesture, posture, relationships and all the other good stuff!

PERFORMANCE

There's no learning experience quite like jumping in and doing!

This weeklong workshop will end with three ticketed performances to an original Australian work starring local professionals and your Bright Star!

Participants will understand how a professional working environment functions and get some tips about managing those nerves!

INCLUSION SCHOLARSHIP

Know a Bright Star that would shine in our program but can't attend due to financial hardship?

They may be eligible for our Bright Star Scholarship, awarded to one brilliant young creative that needs a little helping hand to achieve their dreams. This award covers the full cost of the program for one participant.

PARENT FEEDBACK FROM PREVIOUS PROGRAMS

There is no better way for people to learn...it really was a wonderful introduction to creating a live performance

Bright Side built a nurturing and fun environment for everyone, and it showed in the performances that were tight, joyful and informative

Taylor learned so much about the way a professional show comes together. She loved seeing the technical side of the production too.

"What an experience our kids have had!"
